Issue 3: Layers
Issue 3: Layers
Woven throughout Valet Issue 3 are themes of layers and liminality, of translucency and transparency, in terms of both the ethical and aesthetical. The 272-page tome houses long-form pieces on a number of subjects related to why and how we dress.
Philosophical essays and object histories on nakedness and see-through garments explore what is brought to bear on our notions of dress when considering its absence.
In our conversation piece between our proverbial gentleman and his valet, we look back at a summer day in which our chap, with his mind clear of the stresses and disillusionments that make up everyday life, found himself in love and wanting to exploit silly whims and frivolities.
Layers of cloth and cloud find a home in another piece that looks at the group of amateur British mountaineers who tried to conquer Everest in the '20s, doing so in garments that provided both warmth and style, and which, if used today, might even outperform the fluorescent wind-proofs and synthetic puffer jackets to which many of our brethren have become accustomed.
We speak to Joshua and Kim of British tailoring house Dobrik & Lawton about music, romance, and platform boots; Bernhard Roetzel takes us on a tour of Volkmar Arnulf's Potsdam tailoring workshop; architect Seymour Clifford ponders the notion of continuity in architecture and dress (and deprecates the de facto architect's uniform of black-t-shirt-and-jeans); and loads more.
Cosy up with this here tome and a drink to hand, and sink your teeth in!

You will be charged annually for yearly subscriptions, and you will have full control over your subscription settings via the online customer portal.
We will always send you a reminder three days before your subscription is up for renewal, and you can change your billing information, shipping address, or cancel the renewal of your subscription via the customer portal on our website or by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

How long will delivery take?
As short a time as possible. You will receive a confirmation email once we dispatch your shipment from our warehouse. It usually takes up to 10 days to deliver it to your door in Europe and the US and up to a month everywhere else. Usually, though, it's much quicker than this.
In order to be able to keep our shipment free, we do not offer tracked options for our individual subscribers at the moment on our website. However, we will be happy to arrange tracked or courier delivery at your request if you send us a message at firstname.lastname@example.org.

We deliver to the majority of countries of the globe (we even have a subscriber in the Falklands), save for a few countries like North Korea, Russia, and a handful of territories that are under restrictions.
